Dhillon Khosla
Dhillon Khosla, Acclaimed Author of Both Sides Now: One Man's Journey through Womanhood

Dhillon Khosla, former federal staff attorney and author of the critically acclaimed memoir "Both Sides Now: One Man's Journey through Womanhood," will share his moving personal story during an evening lecture in downtown Boulder on Thursday, February 22, 2007 at 7pm. A renowned lecturer and advocate for True Tolerance, Khosla is an expert on discussing gender relations from a spiritual, as opposed to political, perspective.
Born in a female body, Dhillon went through an extraordinary journey through five years and fifteen surgeries to affirm his true male identity and become the complete and integrated man he is today. His open willingness to share how his journey forced him to confront his own shadows of intolerance will resonate with the great many, who are tired of one-sided politics and ready for a deeper and more profound conversation.
The evening lecture is a collaborative community event and is proudly co-sponsored by several lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer (LGBTQ) and allied organizations including Naropa University, Boulder Pride, Boulder Parents, Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG), University of Colorado Boulder LGBTQQI Resource Center and Word is Out bookstore.
The event will begin with at 7 p.m. Mr. Khosla will share his personal story and then take questions from audience members. Location of the event is the Boulder Shambhala Meditation Center located at 1345 Spruce Street. The event is on the second floor and is wheelchair accessible. Free parking is available on the street and at the County Courthouse across the street. Admission is free for students with a valid ID and paid admission is a $5-$10 sliding scale cash donation. Copies of Mr. Khosla’s new acclaimed book “Both Sides Now” will be on sale at the event.
6) Community March Against Hate
At 3AM Wednesday morning, a young woman who is a student at Naropa University was attacked and severely beaten because she is a lesbian. The Boulder police are investigating the attack as a possible hate-crime, but Boulder Pride is working closely with the victim, and we know and she knows she was targeted for violence because she told the men that she was gay.
An incidence of anti-gay violence threatens the sense of safety of the entire LGBTQ community by contributing to an increased awareness of vulnerability. It's very important to recognize hate-motivated violence as a hate-crime to ensure accountability and to validate and individual victim and an entire community's concern about the possibility of future attacks.
Boulder Pride is committed to confronting hate within our community. The organization will be holding a community march commencing at 5:00pm on Friday, February 23, at the Boulder Pride Community Center, located at 2132 14th Street, Boulder, CO 80302, and continuing to 13th Street and Canyon Boulevard - the site of the assault. The march will end with a rally at the City of Boulder Building at Canyon Boulevard and Broadway.
Speakers for the March and Rally will be:
- Sonya Lewis, Boulder Pride, Board President
- Blake Weber, Boulder Pride, Executive Director
- Robin Bohannan, Boulder City Council
- A Representative from Naropa University
- Veronica Garcia, Colorado Anti-Violence Project, Executive Director
